Searching for pricing while trying to tidy an external drive usually means one of two things. Four things carry a real price, and only one of them is software.

The volume limited model is the one to read closely. A tool that renames fifty files per run is fine for a folder of screenshots and useless for a drive holding a decade of material, and the limit is often stated in a place that is easy to miss until the work is already underway.

An external drive holding the sole copy of finished work is not storage. It is a single point of failure with a folder structure. Two limits are worth knowing before committing to any free tier, paid or not.
The first is exported state. A tool that stores its organisation in its own database, rather than in the file system, keeps that organisation only while the tool is in use.
